BARRYVILLE – The Town of Highland’s review of the proposed Camp FIMFO development in Barryville remains ongoing, with the project’s Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) currently under review by the town engineer.
Town officials confirmed that the engineer’s review is expected to continue for at least another six to eight weeks, and that final approval is still several months away, depending on the outcome of that review and any additional revisions or conditions required by the town.
The FEIS is a required step in the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) process and must be accepted as complete before the Town of Highland Planning Board can consider final site plan approval for the project.
Camp FIMFO, a proposed campground and resort development tied to Northgate Resorts, has been under review for several years and has drawn both support and opposition from community members concerned about land use, emergency access, and environmental impacts.
Until the engineering review is completed and the FEIS is formally accepted, the Planning Board cannot move the project into the final approval phase.
