Catherine Kunz of Cooks Falls, NY, a Real Estate Agent at Elliott and Pomeroy Real Estate, Roscoe, NY, and a long time area resident, died Monday, August 24, 2020 at her home. She was 81.

The daughter of the late Thomas and Fotina Alexiadou Maniolos, Catherine was born on the “Lower East Side” Manhattan on October 20, 1938. She visited the Catskills as a child. Catherine was introduced to Cooks Falls by a neighboring family and would one day call it home for her own. Catherine was a million-dollar seller in real estate several times during her 30+ years as a Real Estate Agent for Elliott & Pomeroy Inc. career, where she worked alongside her partner in crime Lilly Constant. Throughout her life Catherine always put everyone before herself, she was considerate, loving, genuine, happy, compassionate, and a great listener. Catherine started out as a daughter, a sister and a friend, she became a wonderful mother, aunt and then finally a grandmother “YiaYia”, which was everything she wanted. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved nothing more than spending time with them, going on holidays and just hearing about their lives in which she played a tremendous role.

She loved dancing, alone or with family, in her kitchen while listening to Greek music and would brag about winning dance contests in her youth. While driving, she could be heard from afar listening to her beloved Greek music, Tito Puente, Aretha Franklin - I say a Little Prayer, Bee Gees - Stayin Alive, Prince - Purple Rain.

She was also an avid Jeopardy fan. She and her son, Jason, would watch Jeopardy together, astonished at how smart he was, knowing the answers to all the questions. Her oldest son, Eric, was the handy man whom she praised about all the wonderful construction work he did. Catherine loved sitting on her porch admiring “her” river, watching all the birds and chatting with the numerous people who would drive by and stop to say hello.

She was blessed with many friends. Catherine always said, “I didn't get anything done today as I was on the phone all day”... loving every second and laughing. Most importantly Catherine loved and was so proud of her family, her two sons Eric and Jason, her three grandchildren Everett, Lucy, and Madelyn who stole her heart at birth and her loving brother Jim, his wife Lee and their daughter, Catherine's goddaughter, Nicoletta.

Survivors include two sons, Jason Kunz of Cooks Falls, NY and Eric Kunz of Cooks Falls, NY; one brother, James Maniolas and his wife Lee of New York City, NY; three grandchildren, Everett Kunz, Lucy Kunz and Madelyn Kunz; one niece, Nicoletta Ferrara.

She was predeceased by her husband of many years, Herman Kunz; two sisters, Rita Louis and Anette Maniolas; and one brother, Nicholas Maniolos.

Graveside services were held at the Cooks Falls Cemetery, Cooks Falls, NY.
