To the editor:

I don’t know all the candidates who interviewed to head our Office of the County Attorney – I’m told some already work there, others not.

I don’t know why legislators chose Robert Freehill at this time, rather than, unlike Freehill, someone who actually interviewed for the job, or, also unlike him, wasn’t already working there.

And I don’t know whether a criminal investigation will follow the Special Grand Jury Report in January implicating the Office with increasing the exposure of county children to abuse.

What I do know is legislators tell us an independent review will commence, which is why I don’t understand.

Why didn’t they wait for the review before appointing someone already in the Office?  Chairwoman Rajsz said how impressed she was with the candidates, so they also could have appointed someone from outside it?

There’s no wondering though how it looks: wagons circled around the Office instead of children at risk from abuse.
