CALLICOON — The Callicoon/Damascus Bridge, which spans the Delaware River from Callicoon, NY to Damascus, PA was closed to traffic for what was meant to be a 24-hour closure on Tuesday, August 5.

As of presstime yesterday, the bridge was supposed to re-open at noon on Thursday.

Christopher Strack, Engineer in Charge from the New York State Department of Transportation said that issues with concrete pouring caused the delays in re-opening.

Construction is currently ongoing on the bridge, with a project completion date of August 2027.

Another closure is expected on Tuesday, August 12, from around 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. the next day, August 13, with another one scheduled for the end of August.

Pedestrian and bicycle traffic is still allowed to cross during the closures, as well as emergency vehicles.
