LIVINGSTON MANOR –– Sometimes you just get beat. Roscoe had a tough test ahead of them, opening their season against the Spackenkill Spartans, the team that ended their playoff run last year. The Blue Devils dug themselves in a hole early, and ultimately lost their season opener 42-8.

For LMR, it was their first game action of the season, having to opt out of the Sullivan West scrimmage. Their inexperience was on display early, as the Spartans drove the length of the field on three straight possessions, putting up 22 points in the first quarter. Roscoe’s offense struggled early, but were able to gain ground after settling in.

The lone score for the Blue Devils came in the third quarter, as quarterback Anthony Teipelke scampered into the end zone for the score. Anthony Zamenick connected with Logan Park for the 2-point conversion.

The Blue Devils will have to learn from, and quickly shake off, this loss, as they are on the road against Pine Plains/Rhinebeck this weekend. Following that, they will return home to face the Comets, who won big in their season opener and will be coming off of a bye week.
