MONTICELLO – Lydia Freethy, an avian specialist at the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, returns to the Catskill Exotic Bird Club, Thursday, September 10th, at 7 PM, for a fascinating look at the mystery of owl pellets. Owls disgorge the indigestible parts of their diet in the form of pellets and Lydia will be bringing pellets for us to dissect.
Lydia is an expert on our local birds of prey, and her presentations are enlightening and entertaining. By dissecting the pellets, we will learn what the local owls eat , often leaving us with fully intact skeletons of their prey.
Joining Lydia will be wildlife rehabilitator Ellen Kalish of the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center with one of her rescued owls. Ellen is the region's leading expert on the rehabilitation of wild birds and is an engaging and inspiring speaker.
Everyone interested in our local wildlife and the mysteries of nature is encouraged to attend. The meeting is held at 20 Crystal Street in Monticello. There is no charge and refreshments will be served. Children are welcome.
The Catskill Exotic Bird Club, an association of parrot owners, breeders and those interested in and who love and are loved by pet birds, celebrates its 41st anniversary this year. We meet the second Thursday of each month at 20 Crystal Street in Monticello, and the public is always invited.
