SULLIVAN COUNTY –– The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced a new feature for their smart phone app.
“The Tackle Box” allows users to instantly access helpful information, including fishing regulations, fish stocking, and fishing access locations throughout New York State. It features a map-based interface, allowing users to pan and zoom to a body of water, or search it by name, you can find directions the state-owned boating/fishing access sites, and the app includes an offline version to use when there is no cell service.
Other features included in the app are:
Instant, mobile access to a customer’s sporting license, privileges and permits
Quick and easy submission of Game Harvest Reports
Smart filtering for collecting town, county and WMU of harvest data, as well as season and method of take info
Ability to view current and past harvest reports
Links to current year Hunting & Trapping and Freshwater Fishing Regulations Guides
Sunrise/Sunset information
The feature has been added to the DEC’s official app, HuntFishNY, a free app available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
