Firefighters respond to structure fire

MONTICELLO — On Tuesday, November 4, at 1:30 p.m., Monticello Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at the intersection of Sackett Lake and Gregory Roads. Engine 22-11 was on training nearby and reported active fire, requesting a second alarm and tankers to respond.

The occupant of the home was assisted by a neighbor to escape the house. Firefighters were able to evacuate two dogs from the residence. The occupant was treated at the scene by firefighters, Emperess EMS and transported to Garnet Medical Center Catskills. The dogs were treated by EMS and turned over to Catskill Veterinary Services. There were no other injuries.

Assisting Monticello were tankers from Rock Hill, Forestburgh, White Lake,  Kauneonga Lake, Bethel FAST Team and Fallsburg on standby in Monticello. Also on scene were Sullivan County Bureau of Fire, Sullivan County Fire Investigators, New York State Police and NYSEG for a power cut.

Monticello units were then dispatched to a brush fire at 4 p.m. on Starlight Road in the Town of Thompson, they were assisted by Kauneonga Lake and White Lake with Fallsburg remaining on Standby in Monticello. 

All Monticello units were back in service at 5:52 p.m.
