First annual Parksville B’Kawk draws a crowd

Posted

The first annual Parksville B’Kawk kicked off on Saturday, bringing a good-sized crowd of people to the hamlet in the Town of Liberty. Celebrating all things chicken, guests enjoyed great food, craft vendors, classic cars and live music.

“We were amazed by the great response for the 1st annual B’Kawk,” said organizer Todd Perlmutter. “It was such a positive experience from the vendors to the bands to the volunteers. It really felt like the community coming together to celebrate our little town and it seems like there’s some good momentum going forward. We have already started talking about what to do for next year’s B’Kawk.”

Event Coordinator Giana DeGeiso said what an honor it was to be part of it all.

“It was wonderful meeting our neighbors and giving locals something to be proud of. There were many travelers there as well, which made us all very excited to show off our sweet little hamlet.”

DeGeiso thanked local officials such as Town Supervisor Frank DeMayo and State Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther for attending.

“I know it’s the dream of Marlowe & Eddie’s owners and B’Kawk organizers (renown chef, Lauren Radel -long time bar owner, Patrick Dopke - Parksville Arts Center co-founder, Adrian Perlmutter and music professional and producer Todd Perlmutter) to do their part in the restoration or Parksville,” she said.

DeGeiso also thanked the small army of volunteers, as well as the owners of Cabernet Frank’s for making the festival possible.

“It’s not easy work to produce a festival, even a smaller one such as ours and we certainly didn’t do it alone,” she said.
