Gertrude L. Bernhardt (Girrbach), age 93, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Kenoza Lake, NY, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 24, 2021 at The Bridge Assisted Living Facility.

She was the loving wife of the late Floyd A. Bernhardt. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Girrbach, Sr. and Luise Girrbach (Schwarz).

She is survived by a son, Glenn F. Bernhardt of Ocala, Florida, a daughter, Gwen L. Schumacher and husband, Richard of Wakefield, RI, granddaughter, Adrienne L. Curran and husband, Matthew, great grandchildren, Justin Curran, and Marissa Curran, all of Coventry, RI, granddaughter, Lisa M. Schumacher of New London, CT, a brother, Oscar Girrbach of Kenoza Lake, NY, nephews, John Girrbach of Kenoza Lake, NY, David Girrbach of Deltona, Florida, a niece, Bonnie Boyd and husband, Ray of Fremont Center, NY, as well as several cousins and nieces and nephews.

She was employed 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service as a postal clerk. She was also a long-time member of the Kenoza Lake Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid affiliated with the church.

Gertrude was a very gracious and sociable person, and enjoyed interacting with her fellow residents and friends. She enjoyed reading, solving puzzles, especially crosswords and jigsaws, traveling extensively in her younger years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
