Go Swap kicks off National Tourism Week

LIBERTY — The Sullivan Catskills Visitors Assn. (SCVA) hosted its Annual Go Swap Literacy Exchange on Monday to help kick off National Tourism Week.

“It was a great day, with great food and a great turnout,” SCVA President and CEO Roberta Byron Lockwood said.

The event took place outside the SCVA’s office on Sullivan St., Liberty and was attended by dozens of local chambers, hospitality businesses, media, and retail outlets, all eager to share their promotional material.

“It’s important that we all stay up-to-date on what’s happening in our area,” Byron Lockwood said. “This event helps all our businesses and chambers make sure their brochures are ready [for the summer season] and the word is out.”

Mr. Willy’s Catering provided a buffet to feed the hungry crowd and the SCVA made sure each attendee was able to meet each other.

“We all should be well-versed with each other’s offerings,” Byron Lockwood said. “What better way to support tourism then by learning about what each business and chamber has to offer.

“We all play a role in meeting and greeting our visitors,” she said. “This was a great way to start the season.”
