ho do you call when all goes wrong? When it’s the worst minute of the worst day of your life, who answers that cry for help? Always, it’s the dutiful who called to the vocation of the lifesaving work of being a driving factor behind Emergency Medical Services, or EMS.

The residents of this county and the surrounding area are beyond blessed to have the access to the services of those who put others’ health and safety at the top of their priority. Not to mention, a majority of the people who rush to the immediate aid of others do so without financial compensation. It’s a vastly volunteer-based service.

They often receive no worldly reward for their work, however we take this time, pages within this edition of the Sullivan County Democrat, (see pages 1B-8B) to spotlight only a speck of who and what our local EMS personnel are all about – caring for one another.

With their hearts of gold and hands of swift action, countless lives have been saved and will continue to be saved by EMS. Their work is a habitual feat of skill and punctuality that cannot be overstated. If you know an EMS worker personally, or see one (not caught up in the middle of assisting with a crisis) out on the street, be sure to give a thank you. It could mean a whole lot to them.
