James Warren Hess, of Jeffersonville, NY, a retired carpenter and Town of Callicoon Highway Superintendent, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022 peacefully at his home in Chapin, South Carolina with his beloved Susan Clifford by his side. He was 79.
The son of the late Leonard and Helen Hess, he was born June 28, 1943 in Callicoon, NY.
James “Jim” or “Jimmy” Hess served our country in the US Army from 1963-1967. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, and trapping. In his retirement years he could be found on the lake fishing nearly every single day.
Survivors include his wife, Susan J. Clifford at home, his son, Mark Hess and daughter-in-law, Melissa Hess of Roscoe, NY, his daughter, Terri Hess-Ward and son-in-law Charles Husson IV of Roscoe, NY, his grandchildren, Cullen, Finley, Tanner, Tera and Liam, all of Roscoe, and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, his sister Peggy A. Krum of Callicoon (2012), and his beloved dog, Piper.
Private funeral services and burial will be in the Bauernfeind Cemetery, Callicoon later this summer.
