BETHEL- — Bethel Woods Center for the Arts continues its family concert series with a celebration of the music of Bob Marley, featuring classic hits from the Jamaican legend. The Brooklyners, a NYC-based reggae band known for blending Jamaican standards, French classics, and original conscious tunes into a unique tropical mix, played the beloved Marley hits, getting everyone jamming.
The family concert series is hosted by The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a national family concert series held at historic music venues across the country. The Rock and Roll Playhouse allows kids to “move, play, and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon,” according to the New York Times.
The Brooklyners, named for their diverse, multicultural backgrounds and their home base in Brooklyn, NYC, have been entertaining audiences for seven years. They have performed hundreds of shows across NYC and along the East Coast. The band members include David Langlois on vocals, percussion, and rhythm guitar; Ras Abda G on vocals and bass; Kikkah Jackson on vocals and drums; Diego Cebollero on guitars; and Bryan Benhingove on keyboards, saxophones, and melodica.
In line with the mission to keep the arts accessible, the concert operated on a pay-what-you-can model, with tickets starting at just $5.00. This ensures that everyone, regardless of their budget, can enjoy the music.
