Jean M. Austin of White Sulphur Springs, NY, a retired secretary for Robert Green Chevrolet in Monticello, NY and a longtime area resident died Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY. She was 82.

The daughter of the late Oral L. and Lula Mae Waugaman Goode, she was born August 12, 1941 in Coudersport, PA.

Jean enjoyed the challenge of word puzzles and was a bird watcher.

Survivors include three sons, James “Mutt” Austin and his wife Paula of Livingston Manor, NY, Larry “Skeeter” Austin and his companion Laurie Ferber of White Sulphur Springs, NY and Scott Austin and his wife Anna of White Sulphur Springs, NY; one daughter, Pamela Jones and her husband Rory of Hurleyville, NY; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 10AM-12PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 12 noon in the funeral home. Pastor Joseph LeConey will officiate.

Dignified cremation will be provided by Harris Crematorium, LLC. Private burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY.
