Congratulations to all the Fire Departments that participated in the Hortonville Volunteer Fire Company Parade & Field Day! It was a great day for their event – no rain! The Jeffersonville Fire Department came home with three awards!

Saturday, August 31st from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Western Sullivan Public Library is having an “End of Summer Reading Treasure Hunt” at the Jeffersonville Branch, located at 19 Center Street. Sunday, September 8th the “Sullivan Punishers” motorcycle group  is holding a Benefit for the Family of Delana Weyandt from Noon to 5 p.m. at the White Sulphur Spring Inn, located at 3334 State Route 52 in White Sulphur Springs. 

A motorcycle show contest with food and drink specials for purchase provided by the WSS Inn. Music, friendship, and brotherhood in Memory of Delana. Raffles, a  50/50 and prizes. ALL monies will be donated to the Weyandt family. FMI: call Jim 845-866-7802.

Come out and support the North Branch Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, September 28th at their Chicken BBQ Fundraiser. Drive thru/take out only for $15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. or until sold out.

Also on Saturday, September 28, Hilly Acres Farm is holding their Farm Fest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are located at 32 Wahl Road in Jeffersonville. Free admission with farm fresh food, fun & games, antique tractors, hayrides, local craft vendors  and pumpkin decorating. Exhibitions by the 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) where you can meet the animals too! FMI: call 845-482-4296. A great family day!

 I hate to think about Winter time! The Delaware Youth Center has their Holiday Craft Fair scheduled for Friday, November 29th from  10 a.m. to 4 p.m. FMI: call 845-887-5155 or craftfair@delawareyouthcenter.org. 

Afterwards, plan on coming to Jeffersonville to enjoy The James Dworetsky Holiday Parade at 7 p.m. with Santa having some gifts before the parade for the kids. More information coming as we get closer, watch this column and/or Facebook– just wanted to get on your Calendars!

Did you know as of December 2023, the beautiful Monarch butterflies are considered a “vulnerable species”? They love milkweed so if you have some growing that you can leave alone….
