LEGAL NOTICE

ANNUAL ELECTION OF SUMMITVILLE FIRE DISTRICT

Notice is hereby given pursuant to the Town Law of the State of New York that the Annual Fire District Election of Summitville Fire District in the Town of Mamakating will take place on Tuesday, the 14th day of December, 2021, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Summitville Firehouse located at 3978 Route 209, Summitville, New York, for the purposes of:

1) electing one commissioner for a five (5) year term commencing on January 1, 2022 and ending on December 31, 2026; and

2) deciding whether a resolution of the Board of Fire Commissioners, dated November 8, 2021, authorizing the acquisition of a certain Custom Built Pumper on a Spartan Chassis at an estimated maximum cost of $699,333.00; the cost of such apparatus to be paid by expending a sum not to exceed $330,000.00 from the Apparatus Capital Reserve Fund; authorizing the issuance of serial bonds or statutory installment bonds of said Fire District at the prevailing rate of interest at the time of closing in an amount not to exceed $400,000.00 to pay a portion of the costs thereof, such amount to be offset by any federal, state, county, and/or local funds received; pledging the faith and credit of said Fire District for the payment of the principal of and interest on said bonds and authorizing the annual levy on all taxable real property of the Fire District, a tax sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on said bonds as the same become due and payable; determining the probable usefulness thereof is twenty (20) years; determining that the maximum maturity of serial bonds will be ten (10) years; delegating the power to authorize and sell bond anticipation notes and to fix the details of and to sell serial bonds or statutory installment bonds.

Candidates for the office of Fire District Commissioner shall file their names and the term of office they are seeking in writing with the Secretary of the Summitville Fire District at the address below no later than November 24, 2021.

Only those persons who are residents of the Summitville Fire District on or before November 15, 2021 and who also registered to vote with the Sullivan County Board of Elections on or before November 22, 2021 shall be eligible to vote in this election.
