LIBERTY —  The extraordinary opening exhibit of the Liberty Museum and Art Center’s  2024 season, Voices of Survivors, draws to a close with a concert this Sunday, June 23rd, by Chai on Music, the pre-eminent Klezmer music group in our region. Featuring singers Richie Chiger and Lori Schneider and accompanied by Leon Hilfstein on keyboards, Larry Ravdin on woodwinds and Dave Winograd on bass  and tuba, they will be presenting a rousing show of Klezmer, Jewish Jazz and a whirlwind tour  of Jewish music.

The concert will begin at 4PM. It is a show not to be missed.

Preceding the concert, at 1 PM, there will be a presentation by Nadia Rajsz, chair of the Sullivan County legislature, about the Holodomor, the man-made famine in Ukraine from 1932-1933. Created by the Soviet government under Stalin, it is one of the most horrific genocides of the 20th century.

Doors open at noon; this is the last chance to see the art work, poetry, videos and artifacts commemorating and inspired by the Holocaust, the Holodomor and the Armenian genocide.

The concert will be followed by a reception with refreshments.

Admission is free.  The Museum is located at 46 South Main Street in the village of Liberty. There is municipal parking behind the Key Bank. Call (845) 807-6055 or email curator Hope Blecher at hope_blecher@yahoo.com.
