Liberty Public Library to host adventure talk

LIBERTY — On Saturday, February 17th at 2 pm the Liberty Public Library will host an adventure talk and presentation by Callicoon Center resident Doug Woods entitled “Riding Rough: How One Man Survived the TransAmerica Trail.”

In the summer of 2022, Woods rode his Honda CRF 300 Rally, a dual sport cycle, across the United States. Logging 5343 miles, 17 states and 3 sets of tires, he and his riding buddy stayed off the pavement and used the TransAmerica Trail, a mostly dirt, rock, and often very remote off-road route. Both beautiful and extremely challenging, the TAT tested him mentally and physically. Averaging about 200 miles a day, he crossed the Continental Divide and rode along narrow trails with thousand-foot sheer drop-offs. Five weeks after leaving the Atlantic Ocean, his wheels slid into the surf in Oregon. Woods will show a short film of the trip along with sharing some of his most interesting and harrowing experiences. This is an event any adventure lover won’t want to miss!

This free presentation will be held at the Liberty Public Library at 189 North Main Street, Liberty, NY 12754. For more information, please call the library at (845) 292-6070, email lib@rcls.org or visit libertypubliclibrary.org.
