Live Jazz - Frederick Cook Society Open House

Posted

The event will include music, as well as fine art, crafts, books and photographs for sale, just in time for the Holidays.

Little Sparrow will host the stage, with Sullivan West senior Henry Simon on guitar. At 1pm Van Manakas and Wayne Lopes, two lifelong friends and musical collaborators come together for a rare performance of guitar improvisation. Wayne Lopes has been a mainstream performer in the NYC scene as well as performing internationally with his late wife Sylvie Dejiez. Van Manakas has recorded multiple jazz records and toured on four continents.

On display will be an exhibition of wood fired earthenware pottery, donated by the late Robert Segall. Robert holds a post doctorate degree in Fine Art, and taught ceramics at Hunter College, College of the City of New York, and Marymount Manhattan College. Major influences include Pueblo Indian Pottery and Japanese Bizen Ware. Proceeds from Robert’s pottery sales will be donated to local charities and non profit organisations. 845 434-8044
