MAMAKATING — Mamakating residents made their voices heard Tuesday as they exercised their electoral muscle at various polling places throughout the day.

Cross-Endorsed Democratic/Conservative candidate and current Deputy Supervisor Peter Goodman secured his ‘good win’ as he amassed 1,399 votes to become the new Town of Mamakating Supervisor.

As Goodman vacates his current Ward 1 Councilman position, current Supervisor and Republican/Conservative cross-endorsed candidate Michael Robbins plans to step down and continue to keep that seat warm on the Town Board, assuming his new Ward 1 Councilman position with 228 votes under his belt.

The race for Ward 3 Council Member between cross-endorsed Democratic/Conservative candidate Matthew Mordas and cross-endorsed Republican/Mamakating First candidate Dino Orfanos concluded with Mordas nailing a comfortable win with 209 votes to Orfanos’s 150.

For the seat of Ward 5, Councilman Jim Post was able to narrowly hold his stake as he overcame his cross-endorsed Democratic/Mamakating United opponent Leslie Ocasio with 176 votes to her 155.

For the Town Justice, Republican/Conservative cross-endorsed candidates Terrence F. Mullen and Zachary D. Kelson each secured their positions with 1,366 and 1,179 votes respectively.

Ward 4 will see a new face at the seat following current Councilman John Rufer’s stepping down. Tagging into his seat will be Robert F. Rogers (Conservative/Republican), having earned 248 votes to secure him to the seat.

Retaining their positions were Ward 2 Councilman Gary Forthoffer (Republican/Conservative) (191 votes), Republican/Conservative Ward 6 Councilman Tyler Wood (206 votes), and Republican/Conservative Highway Superintendent Thomas Morrow (1,219 votes).
