Manor and Roscoe schools to receive grants

LIBERTY — Sullivan 180  has announced the 2023–2025 Healthier Generation District Impact Grant recipients as Livingston Manor and Roscoe Central School Districts.

The ultimate goal of the District’s Wellness Policy is to promote and enhance the overall health, well-being, and quality of life within the school community, not only on a district-wide level but also within each individual school building.

To further support these critical objectives, the $20,000 Healthier Generation District Impact Grant has been allocated to provide targeted assistance and resources that align with our wellness goals and priorities.

With this grant, the aim is to make meaningful strides towards creating a healthier environment for all members of both school communities.

The Healthier Generation District Impact Grant was given to the Livingston Manor Central School District so that they may buy a chilled salad bar, a water bottle filling station and a grab-and-go breakfast cart.

This nutrition-focused project will boost water intake, increase the availability of healthy breakfast options for students on the go and increase the selection of nutritious foods in the cafeteria.

“We are super excited about it,” said Superintendent of Livingston Manor and Roscoe Schools, John Evans. “This is a great opportunity for the kids.”

A Healthier Generation District Impact Grant was given to Roscoe Central School District so that they could add outdoor exercise stations to their walking trail. The program to promote outdoor physical activity will increase the trail’s benefits by adding more enjoyable and safe exercise options for adults and kids.

“The fitness trail is a fantastic opportunity for kids and visitors because it connects Riverside Park [in Roscoe] to the school’s property,” said Evans.
