Stepping off promptly at 1 p.m. on a hot and sunny Memorial Day, the Wurtsboro Memorial Day Parade turned the corner on State Route 209 and, with sirens and horns blaring from the emergency personnel vehicles, made its way down Sullivan Street.
This yearly tradition in the Village of Wurtsboro is just one of many that happened throughout the county and across the nation to honor and remember those who lost their lives while serving in the United States military.
Parade watchers, some holding small American flags, cheered and waved as firefighters, other emergency personnel, schools, little league baseball players, and many more marched on Sullivan Street led by the Hudson Valley Regional Police Pipe and Drums.
