MONTICELLO  — After  more than eight years of searching, Shaniece Harris has been found deceased.

Around May 29 of 2017, Shaneice Harris was allegedly shot and killed by Dwayne Johnson in Monticello, in connection with a long-running drug conspiracy.

This was allegedly a conspiracy to traffic over 1,000 kilograms of marijuana in New York’s Southern District and elsewhere.

A series of searches in 2023 led to law enforcement recovering many videos Johnson made where he displayed his firearms cache and made clear of his intentions to shoot anyone who tried to steal his marijuana or marijuana proceeds.

Around May 24 of that year, law enforcement had also recovered body armor from his residence, as well as a large quantity of ammunition, and approximately 30 firearms, including many short-barreled rifles.

Johnson was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute over 1,000 kilograms of marijuana, one count of murder through use of a firearm, one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, one count of possession of a short-barreled rifle in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and one count of unlawful possession of firearms.

“I am thrilled that this arrest is the first step in bringing closure to the family and loved one’s of Shanice Harris,” Sullivan County District Attorney (DA) Brian Conaty said in a statement. “I applaud the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the Southern District of New York.  I am proud that members of my office were able to assist these entities in this investigation.  I thank all the law enforcement entities involved for their unwavering dedication to investigating and apprehending the individual who was responsible for this heinous crime. It is law enforcement collaborations such as this that send a stark message that the victims of violent crime will never be forgotten.”

“I personally would like to send my love and condolences to the Harris family,” Hope Alive 845 Founder Domingo Ramos said. “This has been a long journey for almost 8 years to come to a tragic outcome.”
