Monticello Firefighters responded to structure fire

MONTICELLO — At 14:00 hours (2:00 pm) Engine 22-11 responded to a structure fire at 28 Park Avenue in the Village of Monticello. First arriving firefighters reported to Sullivan County 911 a two story residence with heavy smoke coming from an attached garage. A second alarm was sounded for Monticello and mutual aid calls were put out for manpower from Rock Hill, Liberty and Town of Bethel Fast Team. Fallsburg and Woodridge were called to standby in Monticello’s Station, Wurtsboro was on standby for Rock Hill and Grahamsville was on standby for Fallsburg and Woodridge. The residence sustained significant damage and occupants were being assisted by neighbors.

Monticello was assisted by Monticello Police, Monticello Village Manager, Village Code Enforcement, Mobilemedic EMS, Sullivan County Bureau of Fire, Sullivan County Fire Investigators and New York State Electric & Gas.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported and all units are back in service at 16:45 hours.
