MONTICELLO – President and Founder of Reach Towards the Stars, Danielle Galati, was present at the Village of Monticello Board meeting with one thing on her mind: a date for the upcoming annual Halloween Parade (planned for October 25th).
Village Manager James Snowden urged the parade be conducted a little differently than how it was last year. Galati agreed, as she had already spoken to the Police Chief David Lindsay that morning.
“I asked him if he had any suggestion for the parade to run smoother as far as logistics and safety concerns that we had from last year and the previous year [before that],” noted Galati. “He did suggest North Street ... as opposed to Broadway like we have had done in the past.”
Rest assured, Galati noted that Reach was open to any suggestions but understands Broadway posed safety concerns for the kids who wanted to be a part of the parade.
Snowden suggested approving the parade under the conditions that Galati meet with him and Lindsay while going over the situation.
Trustee Theodore Hutchins motioned to commence the parade under the previously mentioned meeting conditions with Galati, Snowden, and Lindsay, and Trustee Janice Davis seconded the motion. The Village Board voted unanimously in favor.
