MONTICELLO — Emma C. Chase Elementary School fifth-grade student, James Vizzari, helped save a life during a trip to Villa Roma – a trip that he had earned as an essay contest winner in the school’s DARE program.

At the resort, a young child who could not swim had gone down a water slide and was struggling to stay afloat. Eagle-eyed James helped the youngster to safety.

In celebration of his bravery and kindness, Chase School Resource Officer Deputy Roy Rogers presented James with a certificate, medal, trophy and a gift card.
