WHITE LAKE — Yesterday morning, New York State Police rushed to Route 17B in Bethel on the report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.
Police quickly closed Route 17B between Route 55 and Happy Ave. in Bethel to investigate the accident, which had turned into a fatality, according the a State Police spokesman.
The State Police said, “Detours are in place - please avoid the area and follow signs.” State Police confirmed that they were on the scene and actively investigating the incident.
The Democrat reached out to the State Police but were unable to acquire further information before presstime on Thursday afternoon.
Route 17B contains several long straighaways on that stretch of road, although the exact location of the accident was unknown.
