LIBERTY — To split up the overbearing workload from the Town of Liberty Parks and Recreation Department, the Town Board voted to create a separate Building and Grounds Department. The goal is to have more attention paid to dilapidated buildings around town.

Town Board member Bruce Davidson noted that the creation of the department is both necessary and cost efficient. Because of the shifting of the already established budget, the new department would not increase taxes.

The rest of the town board agreed, voting unanimously to see the creation of the department within the department.

“We have a lot of buildings in towns that are not being taken care of,” Davidson said. “I think this is the right way to go.”
