No faking safety at JAKES event

Posted

ROSCOE — The Sullivan County Long Beards (SCLB) held their annual JAKES event at the Roscoe-Rockland Fireman’s Field on Saturday, September 16. From cider making, a cotton candy machine and other food to archery, birds of prey, birdhouse building and other activities, the event had plenty of educational opportunities for kids 17 and younger.

After signing in, the youth stopped for a safety lesson so that the day was not only filled with loads of fun, but they remained safe as well.

This year, there was live fishing as well, as the Roscoe Rockland Fire Department supplied the water for the fishing pool. A golden trout, caught by young fisherman Henry Davis, was the first catch of the day. Every year, local businesses donate goods and services for a raffle that does great in raising money to keep the event going.
