How Do I Prepare for Tomorrow - Today?

You can’t plan for everything but making sound financial decisions can help you plan for the things you want to do - and be prepared for the unexpected, too.

Make sure you have a plan for:

Asset Protection - Annuities may help protect your assets from market downturns and provide the income you need to retire your way.

Protecting your Family - Take care of your loved ones with term life insurance or permanent coverage that offers protection- and may help you reach your financial goals.

Tax Optimization - Certain types of life insurance and other financial planning options offer tax advantages that could potentially save you money.

Retirement - Create a strategy that helps prepare you for risks like inflation and market volatility - and helps you be ready to live out the plans you have for your future.

What can I do to

get it all together?

Keeping connected to your industry after retirement might not be your inclination once you’ve handed in your ID and packed up your desk. But if what you do is very much connected to who you feel you are, losing that tether can be disconcerting.

So how can you continue to have the healthy connection to your old identity while moving on to a new one?

  1. Join the professional or industry organization. It might offer volunteer opportunities at meetings and conventions, and positions on boards or committees.
  2. Continue to subscribe to professional journals and magazines.
  3. Check out the websites of your industries groups and publications. You might even find a Facebook page or blog for alumni of your organization.
  4. Don’t forget, too, that your identity - and happiness - is tied to the personal bond you have made in the office. Arrange to meet for coffee.
  5. Try something new.

Also consider applying your expertise to a different arena.

Thought For The Day

By the time a person is wise enough to watch his step, he is too old to go anywhere.
