LIBERTY–– As fall sports have come to an end we would like to shine a spotlight on some exceptional well-rounded athletes who excel on and off the court and field. Luis Molina Gonzalez is a senior that attends Liberty High School. Luis is captain of the soccer team and maintains the highest GPA with a 94. His primary position is in the midfield but switched from attacking to defending positions with versatility to play wherever he was needed.

Luis was chosen to represent Liberty at the highest level this year in the Section 9 Soccer Coaches Association Senior Recognition soccer game. Last year Luis was presented with the Redhawk Award, a coaches choice award that is presented to students who work hard and demonstrate good sportsmanship, dedication and committment.

“Luis was an asset to our team. He was a very hard worker and an excellent teammate and role model. Luis was able to balance his soccer responsibilities with his school work and extracurricular activities” says Coach Deb Simpson. A sentiment echoed by Co-Head Coach Scott Hamlin.  Luis is an accomplished trumpet player, He recently played 2nd trumpet with the Area All-State Symphony Orchestra. Over the summer he played trumpet in Catskill Public Theater’s performance of “Terror” in Roscoe. Luis plans on attending college for computer science with a minor in music performance.

Congratulations on your accomplishments, Luis!
