WESTBROOKVILLE – On June 9 firefighter Louis Tunno of the Westbrookville Volunteer Fire Company and senior at Port Jervis High School received the Gerard J. Buckenmeyer Memorial Scholarship from the Firefighters Association of the State of New York.

Tunno was one of 25 scholarship recipients from across the state.

He also obtained his Firefighter 1 National Certification along with New York State certifications in wildland firefighting, wildland search and rescue, engine company operations, firefighter self rescue, auto extraction and traffic incident management.

While attending all of his fire training, he was able to maintain a high average in high school and C-Tech.

He is graduating with high honors and is a member of the National Honor Society and Technical Honor Society.
