Public hearing on county budget rescheduled

MONTICELLO – As Sullivan County prepares to adopt a 2026 Budget that raises property tax by 9.1%, local residents are urged to attend public hearings to share their opinions; unfortunately, Old Man Winter has awakened from his slumber and is projected to unleash the region’s first significant snow storm today, causing the first public hearing to be rescheduled.

The county released a statement on Monday stating that due to the inclement weather forecasted, the 2026 Tentative Budget Public Hearing scheduled for 5 p.m. today has been canceled and rescheduled for Tuesday, December 9 at 5 p.m.

The hearing will take place at the Legislative Chambers at the Government Center at 100 North Street in Monticello. Residents may also attend a hearing on the tentative budget this Thursday, December 4, at 10:45 a.m., and send email correspondence to the clerk at annmarie.martin@sullivanny.gov or written letter to 100 North Street, Monticello, NY 12701.
