GALILEE, PA — What was initially thought to be a barn fire was luckily contained to “just” a five-acre brush fire as cooperating winds and quick response kept the damage to a minimum.
At approximately 2 p.m. last Thursday, nearly 36 firemen from four companies raced to 22 Shamrock Lane, just off Baldwin Hill Rd., in Galilee as a field behind the barn was on fire. Firemen quickly got water on the fire from three different pumpers and utilized Indian Packs and fire hoses to contain the fire to just one field.
Responding companies included Equinunk, Beach Lake, Hortonville and Callicoon with Damascus EMS also on the scene.
