Raymond J. McNamara, Jr. of Woodbourne, NY, a retired Golf Course Superintendent at the Homowack Hotel in Spring Glen, NY and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Care Center at Sunset Lake, Liberty, NY. He was 87.

The son of the late Raymond Sr. and Viola Crowfoot McNamara, he was born April 16, 1935 in Bridgeport, CT.

Golf was always a part of Ray’s life. He enjoyed playing the game as well as working in the industry with his sons for many years. He also spent time surf-casting, playing cards, and enjoying country music - The Gather Hour, in particular.

 Survivors include his children, Michael McNamara and his wife Emily of Hurleyville, NY, Patrick McNamara of Woodbourne, NY and Terry McNamara and his wife Rhonda of Grahamsville, NY; his grandchildren, Brittany, Christian, Kelly, Stephen, Kayla, Sean and Courtney; and his sister, Joyce Schweiss. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty J. McNamara; and his brother, Robert “Bobby” McNamara.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. 

Funeral services will be Monday, September 12, 2022 at 11 AM in the Grahamsville United Methodist Church, 350 Main Street, Grahamsville, NY.

 Burial will be in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville, NY.
