Reception Saturday for the Invitational Art Show at the Liberty Museum & Arts Center

LIBERTY – The opening reception, including a meet and greet with the artists, for the Invitational Art Show at the Liberty Museum & Arts Center will be held this Saturday, July 13th, from noon until 6pm, at the Museum.

The show offers a stunning array of extraordinary art, from watercolors and oil paintings to mixed-media constructions to exquisite photography.  It is rare to see all these artists work in one venue and most of the art is available for sale.

The art on display encompasses a broad variety of styles and subject matter.

If you never thought pigs were photogenic, wait until you see the photographs by Jean Rhodes; and pigs were also the inspiration for some of Allison Luci’s oils.

Keeping with the theme of fascinating animals, elephants are the subject matter of many of Jackie Chiger’s stunning photographs, taken while on a tour of India.

Among the other art is an eclectic array of paintings by the local legend, Dorothy Langseder, the intimate and vibrant work of Rosie Nove, the three-dimensional whimsical work of James Karpowicz, new atmospheric watercolors by Laverne Black, riveting paintings from the butterfly series by Barnaby Frumess and two of the latest large-format representational canvases of Tony Canger  are among the artwork.

The exhibit also has a broad retrospective of the work of Sarah Alexander Munoz whose paintings range from  wildlife portraits  to her ever-popular “If-I-Were-a-Fish”, an  eye-grabbing painting of her own squished lips.

There will be refreshments and music.  Many of the artists will be present to discuss their work.

The Museum is at 46 South Main St, in Liberty, across from the newly-renovated Liberty Theater. The Museum is open Fridays and Saturdays, from noon until 4pm or anytime by appointment.

There is ample municipal parking behind the Key Bank.  For more information call or text (845) 807-6055 or email curator Naomi Frumess at nfrumessfnp396@gmail.com.
