PORT JERVIS – “Although the season ended earlier than we would have liked it to, we are very proud of all that we have accomplished this season,” shared Panthers’ Head Coach Sierra Smith.

This is the first time the Panthers have stepped on the court for sectionals since 2018, an impressive accomplishment in itself.

The Monticello Panthers were the underdogs heading into this match and needed to make it past the #1 seed Port Jervis Red Raiders to secure their spot in the championship round of sectionals, a challenging task. This was the third time this season that these two teams met, with the Red Raiders winning each game.

Port Jervis secured a decisive  3-0, victory in this sectional game, winning three straight sets 25-9, 25-16, and 25-13. Despite the Panthers’ loss, there were several standout players for Monticello. Reiley Schloicka had 8 digs, 2 aces, and 1 kill, Genevieve DeSimone had 5 kills, 2 aces, and 7 digs, and Morgan Hutchins had 10 assists, 1 kill, and 3 digs.

“Lady Panther volleyball would like to thank everyone who has supported us all season. We’re looking forward to next year,” Smith added after the game.
