Refuah Health receives federal funding for new clinic in South Fallsburg

SOUTH FALLSBURG — As part of a federal funding package secured by the region’s representatives, Refuah Health Center received $1 million for a new permanent outpatient clinic to serve residents in and around South Fallsburg.

Congressman Josh Riley (NY-19), U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced $2,634,000 in federal Community Project Funding in the FY2026 Agriculture appropriations bill for three projects in Upstate New York.

The other projects are a firehouse in Guilford and a rural primary care facility in Margaretville.

The new Refuah Health facility will provide primary care, women’s health services, mental health care, and on-site pharmacy access for a diverse rural population. This project will replace the temporary space currently occupied by Refuah.

“We are deeply grateful to Congressman Riley for his leadership and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare access across rural New York. He spearheaded this effort and was instrumental in securing critical federal funding to expand Refuah Health Center’s services in Sullivan County,” said Chanie Sternberg, President and CEO of Refuah Health Center.

She added, “This investment will allow us to reach more families who too often struggle to access essential health care because of distance, transportation, or provider shortages. Congressman Riley’s dedication to the people of his district ensures that rural communities have the same opportunity for high-quality, comprehensive care as those in urban areas—strengthening the health and vitality of our entire region.”

Congressman Riley said, “In Upstate New York, our first responders and health care workers show up for their neighbors every single day. This funding is about showing up for them. It means Guilford’s volunteer firefighters will finally have a safe station to work from, families in Margaretville will have better access to care close to home, and South Fallsburg will get the permanent clinic it’s needed for years. I’ll keep pushing to make sure rural communities in Upstate New York get the resources they deserve, working closely with partners like Leader Schumer and Senator Gillibrand.”

Refuah Health Center also has locations in Spring Valley and Nanuet. According to its website, the Liberty location is currently closed.
