CALLICOON – The Callicoon Business Association (CBA), in coordination with Callicoon Depot Inc. (CDI)and the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (UDSB), is pleased to announce that a Request for Proposal has been issued to obtain Architectural Design Services for the Callicoon Train Depot Visitor Center Project.
The Callicoon Depot, a historic gem nestled in the heart of Callicoon, is the center of an adaptive reuse project: The Callicoon Train Depot Visitor Center Project.
This exciting community initiative will transform the site into a community space for cultural, artistic and educational programming and will serve as the main visitor center for the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, which encompasses the NY State Route 97 corridor from Port Jervis to Hancock and receives over 280,000 visitors per year.
The Request for Proposal seeks architectural services to produce a set of construction documents to be used by a selected contractor for construction. These documents include: design, development and construction documents for the multi-phase development of the existing building and site and presentation documents to be used by government agencies, the public, client and collaborating agencies.
The building’s adaptive reuse will host a variety of community functions, exhibits, performances, classes, workshops, and private events. Proposed plans for the exterior include a master plan of the site, landscaping and the creation of a town plaza with outdoor seating, shade trees and flexible planters to allow for various uses and configurations. Amenities include a gallery, gift shop and ADA accessible bathrooms.
New York State licensed architects are asked to declare their interest no later than January 24, by contacting Nancy Anderson at allaboard@thecallicoondepot.org.
Qualified firms will be provided with full documentation and will have until March 7, to submit proposals for consideration.
“Issuing the RFP for Architectural Design Services is a much-anticipated milestone for the project partners,” Rosie DeCristofaro, Vice Chair of the UDSB, said.
Nicole Vallance from the CBA shared, “An incredible amount of preliminary work had been conducted over several years to ensure a viable and sustainable project, and this project would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of dozens of volunteers across our three organizations. We are all excited that the team’s extensive work will now start to become more visible to the community.”
CDI President Darko Hreljanovic, added, “We are grateful to our project partners and the community for the trust they place in the CDI in managing the RFP review process and are very excited by the amount of interest in this project. We look forward to reviewing proposals and helping to move this important project forward.”
Interested parties should submit their Declaration of Interest no later than January 24, to begin the process. Please email Nancy Anderson at allaboard@thecallicoon depot.org.
Final proposals in response to the RFP will be accepted up until the deadline of March 7.
