CALLICOON  — The 26th year for the Delaware Youth Center’s annual River Run may just go down in the record books. 

The race raised more than $40,000 for the Callicoon non-profit, a number that outgoing Race Director Ann Santoro said was the highest ever. 

That came thanks to the help of dozens of volunteers — including new incoming race director Edward van der Schans — and the more than 500 registrants who signed up to walk, run and support the center that’s long provided Callicoon area kids with a place to go. 

Although temperatures were high, a slight breeze and a drop in humidity gave the 428 in-person runners and walkers a chance to enjoy the flat course that runs right along the Delaware River that gives the race its name. 

Coming out on top for women’s 5K runners was Sullivan West student Alaina Keller, who ran a 6:08 minute mile while the first place finisher for the men’s 5K was Ryan Gibson, finishing the 3.2 miles in 17:28. 

In the 10K, Adam Sanchez took the overall win with a 35:59 finish while Kristy Sigelakis placed first in the women’s division with a time of 43:32.
