Rockland sets two public hearings for next meeting

ROCKLAND — In their September 5 meeting, the Town of Rockland scheduled two public hearings for September 19. The first, which will begin at 7 p.m., is to discuss a waiver request for Livingston Legacy Holders for the Moratorium. The property is included in the agenda as a mixed use tourist destination, and the board will discuss the potential waiver in the next meeting.

The second, at 7:10, is a public hearing in regards to reserve building funds, and the appropriation of said funds across Town of Rockland properties.

While on the topic of Town of Rockland properties, the board moved to reduce fees at the Twin VIllage golf course for rounds beginning after 5 p.m. as the golf season draws to a close.

A late addition to the correspondence was added, with two members of the public attempting to bring a 5K to Livingston Manor in November. The Turkey Trout would be the first annual event and looks to raise money for the Rockland County SPCA.

The Board and Highway Department were interested in the idea, but agreed on a set date and time for possible weather cancellation before the event.

The Board moved to purchase a gate to close off a parcel of land connected to the Livingston Manor Rail Trail project, so long as the gate does not exceed $2,400.

In new business, the Highway Department was motioned by the board to repair a ditch line at the Roscoe Central School property from Highland Ave. to the athletic field. Washout from the bank has been covering the athletic stairs, and the ditch repair should alleviate the issue.

The board also passed a motion to repaint the Roscoe water tower after it was defaced by graffiti, and resolved to give a noise permit to Broadacre Farm on September 14 for an event.

Also in new business, Glen Eggleton was hired part time to fill in when needed at the golf course, and Linda Hartley was appointed as an alternate for the zoning board.
