Shout out to the Sheriff’s Office

Posted

The constituents of Sullivan County are very fortunate in their availability to communicate and contact their elected officials. Many town, county, and others who hold various elected offices spend much of their time out in the community celebrating the many different occasions, parades, concerts, sidewalk shows and other events.

It is great to see them mingle as good neighbors do, all unified under the banner of “resident of Sullivan County.” When you’re meant to represent and protect the people who surround you, there is nothing more important than open communication. It is a heavy responsibility that is shouldered with grace.

Many in these positions show their grace and we are grateful for all of them, but coming fresh off of New York State Sheriffs’ Week, we want to recognize the few but mighty who both participate in these recurring events while also keeping their jobs at the forefront of their minds – Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff, Undersheriff Eric Chaboty and each and every one of the Sheriff’s Deputies under their leadership.

The men and women of the Sheriff’s Office risk their safety and even possibly their lives every day to protect and serve, regardless of where they are and what is going on around them. Not to mention, the leaders within the Sheriff’s Office are always eager to talk with their constituents and happy to assist in any way they can.

One event that continues to uphold open communication are events like ‘Coffee with the Sheriff’, which are hosted in various places all around the county. How amazing is it that our local law enforcement hold the opinions and time of those they protect in high regard? Very.

As New York State Sheriffs’ Week came to a close on Saturday, we have a continuing gratitude for those in our dedicated county law enforcement, who shine brightly out in the community as pillars of reason and safety.
