Teddy Young Blues Band in Central Park, July 18

HONESDALE -  It’s July, it’s hot, it’s perfect for some hot NEPA blues! The Wayne County Creative Arts Council is happy to oblige, bringing the Teddy Young Blues Band to Honesdale’s Central Park on Thursday evening, July 18th, at 7:30. This concert is part of the annual Summer Festival of Events.

For more than thirty years, Teddy has been honing his craft and pushing the envelope, bringing in influences from many styles of music.  He has shared the stage with many notable players like Bobby Parker and Little Sammy Davis and opened for other such well-known acts as Room Full of Blues and Smokin’ Joe Kubak.

“Over the years, I started getting into different styles, jazz for a while, fusion jazz. I like R&B and funk … and that’s when I really started changing direction a bit as far as arrangements go,” Young said in an interview after the release of his album “Movin’ On.”

Joining him onstage will be Mark Hamza on Hammond organ, Dean Rickard on drums, and Robert “Frog” Fenstermacher, his musical partner for more than 17 years, on bass.

Please bring chairs or blankets for seating. Fresh ice cream will be available for purchase, courtesy of Creamworks.

In case of inclement weather listen to 95.3FM or 105.3FM or check out the WCCAC’s webpage, www.honesdaleparkevents.org or check us out on Facebook – Wayne Co. Creative Arts Council.  The rain location is the Thrive Church, 1112 Church St. Honesdale.

These concerts are partially funded by donations from local folks and businesses, a grant from the Pocono Mountain Vacation Bureau, and by a free will collection at each concert.
