MONTICELLO– The #7 Monticello Panthers (14-6) have secured their spot in the Section IX Class A volleyball playoffs and will face their namesake, #2 Wallkill Panthers (11-3), in the quarter-final round tonight at Wallkill at 5:00 pm. Last season, the Monti’s fell to the Port Jervis Raiders in the second round of sectionals but easily defeated the Raiders in their matchup on October 8, overcoming the visiting team 3 sets to 1. Should the Monti’s advance, they could potentially face the Raiders again in the next round. In their final game of the regular season, the Monti’s took a tough loss at the hands of Washingtonville. The Wallkill Panthers have played consistent all season, coming up short against The Mount Academy on October 15 but had no trouble bouncing back against New Paltz only five days later, winning their last game of the regular season 3 sets to 0.
