The Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association (SCVA) has been dedicated to promoting our region to travelers both domestically and internationally. A couple of events from June highlight the importance of marketing the Sullivan Catskills as a first-rate destination.

Members of the SCVA traveled to New York City on June 7 to attend the New York State Division of Tourism Media Night, where they showcased the unique offerings of the Sullivan Catskills region to an array of journalists, influencers, and travel writers. They aimed to highlight the breathtaking landscapes, cultural attractions, and vibrant communities that make the Sullivan Catskills a must-visit destination.

On June 15 and 16, the SCVA hosted the quarterly meeting of the New York State Destination Marketing Organization’s CEOs and Director of Sales. The gathering played a crucial role in shaping the future of tourism in the Sullivan Catskills and the rest of the state. Consisting of tourism leaders, the meeting aimed to collaborate, strategize, and promote the region as a premier travel destination.

Discussions revolved around issues in tourism that affect us, and how to collaborate and pull resources together to have a greater impact on tourism. Through collective efforts and shared visions, DMOs aim to position the Sullivan Catskills and New York State as a compelling choice for travelers seeking authentic experiences.

While Media Night and the DMO meeting were significant in amplifying the region’s allure, the Sullivan Catskills also witnessed the birth of new business ventures that are poised to enrich the local economy.

Entrepreneurs and visionaries recognized the untapped potential of the region and took the leap to establish innovative establishments catering to various interests and niches. These ventures not only bring fresh energy to the region but also create employment opportunities, supporting the local workforce and stimulating economic growth.

The SCVA attended the grand opening of Decant Wine & Spirits in Hurleyville, an international wine and spirits store that will lend a tremendous advantage to the growing Main Street community in the hamlet.

We also celebrated the one-year anniversary ribbon cutting of Hampton Inn Monticello, a 92-room hotel located just off Route 17, providing travelers with an easy and comfortable experience.

And the Sullivan Catskills Dove Trail is growing—we unveiled four new Doves this summer. Originally established as a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, the Dove Trail today is a legacy trail to honor our communities and local businesses with over 60 Dove sculptures. More Doves will be added to the trail this summer so stay tuned for updates.
