NARROWSBURG — The 4th Annual Upper Delaware Litter Sweep will take place on April 20-28, with land-based clean-ups to be organized in every Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River corridor community that is willing to participate.

The Upper Delaware Council (UDC) sponsors this active celebration of Earth Day ideals.

The non-profit organization is seeking to designate Litter Leaders in the Towns of Hancock, Fremont, Delaware, Cochecton, Tusten, Highland, Lumberland, and Deerpark (NY); and Buckingham, Manchester, Damascus, Berlin, Lackawaxen, Shohola and Westfall Townships (PA) by February 20 if possible.

Litter Leaders are responsible for setting the date(s) and location(s) for their clean-ups, helping to round up volunteers in conjunction with the UDC’s publicity outreach, and overseeing safety standards with provided instructions. 

Fellow volunteers will receive a commemorative Upper Delaware Litter Sweep t-shirt with a pending new design; supplies to use including bags, pickers, and safety equipment; and disposal information for their collected trash.

The 4th Annual Upper Delaware Litter Sweep is wholly funded by donations from partners, businesses and those who love the river corridor.

The UDC handles ordering the t-shirts for volunteer team building, permitting, insurance coverage, grant applications, connecting volunteers, purchase and distribution of equipment, supplies, maintaining a clean-up schedule and promotion before, during and after the event.

Box 192, Narrowsburg, NY 12764; or drop off monetary donations at the 211 Bridge Street office. Please indicate that the donation is for the 2024 Litter Sweep.

Contributors of $50 and above will be acknowledged in event publicity.
