William J. “Bill” Backman of Lew Beach, NY passed away on November 26, 2023. He was 86.

He was the son of the late Royce Backman and Carrie (Simmons), born on March 27, 1937 in Beaverkill, NY.

Bill was an active member of his community. He was a member of the Beaverkill Valley Fire Co., Lew Beach Rod & Gun Club as well as Cross Mountain Camp. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Carolann of 64 years, at home; daughter Susan and her husband Herb of Long Island; five grandchildren- Chrissy and her husband  Steve, Herby Jr and his wife Kristi, William, Caroline and Andy; seven great-grandchildren- Herby III, Aiden, Samantha, Christopher, Phillip, Liam and Connor; siblings Allen and his wife Ruth of Rock Hill, SC and Kathy of Summerfield, FL and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Billy Backman; sister Agnes and her husband Doug VanSteenburg; and brother-in-law Frank DenHollander.
