ROCK HILL — On Sunday, August 27, the Wolf Lake Neighbors Foundation of Rock Hill awarded Neal Meddaugh of the Rock Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps (RHVAC) with a Certificate of Achievement award for his dedication and service to saving lives and helping others in need. In addition to Meddaugh receiving the certificate of achievement, the RHVAC also received a $1,000 donation from the Wolf Lake Neighbors Foundation.

Meddaugh is a lifelong resident of Rock Hill where he’s a Monticello alumnus. Meddaugh assisted in forming the ambulance corps in 1977 and opened their doors for service the following year. He is experienced with Red Cross training, he became a New York State Certified Emergency Medical Technician in 1980 and in 2006 he became a certified paramedic while supporting local support agencies. In 1996 he furthered his medical education by becoming a registered nurse where he would work at the former Community General Hospital for 24 years. Meddaugh currently serves as a member of the Sullivan County EMS Board and a delegate to Hudson Valley Regional EMS Council where he provides support for anyone in need in the Mid-Hudson Valley region.

In addition to the award ceremony, fellow volunteer ambulance corps member Tom Blon presented “What do you do in an Emergency” where he taught residents of Rock Hill how to properly handle an emergency situation if one occurs. Blon has been with the RHVAC since 2021 and an EMT since August 2022.
