SULLIVAN COUNTY — The “Coach” Fred Ahart Section IX 8-Man Football trophy is back in Sullivan County for the second consecutive year after Sullivan West defeated Pawling in the Championship 32-20.

Tri-Valley wore the crown last year, but their title defense bid came to an end in the first round of the playoffs as Fallsburg earned their first postseason win in program history.

For many of the local 8-Man teams, this season brought a lot of successes. The merged unit of Livingston Manor and Roscoe struggled with numbers this year, playing just one game all season, but were able to practice and grow together despite the forfeits.

Eldred finished the season at .500 and earned their first home win since 2018. The Yellowjackets were one league win short of the playoffs, but earned non-league wins to get to the even mark.

Fallsburg reached the playoffs and even gave the eventual champions a run for their money in the semi-final game.

Monticello and Liberty worked hard all season, but with the reclassification they had to face off against some new league opponents that presented some new challenges.

Despite the challenges, the RedHawks’ postseason hopes came down to their final drive in a win-and-in game against Beacon.

There were plenty of things to look back fondly on this season, and plenty of players that made a name for themselves across Sullivan County.
